As we traveled from Pennsylvania to Rhode Island last Wednesday, we found ourselves with a bit of time to kill so we did some sight-seeing.
The sign here is located in a popular travel destination and might be a sort of local stimulus plan.
Where do you think it is?
(Blog posts of our trip will be made after our return – some dolt forgot one of the USB cables.)
Starting off April right, Mary and I took a nice little sail down the lake for several miles then back up to Tanasi for lunch.
It was kind of a shakedown cruise for 2012 and things went remarkably well – no blood, no inadvertent swimming and no broken boat parts – that always counts as a successful trip. Continue reading

The past few days have produced a remarkable transformation in East Tennessee.
The winter was so mild here that have been seeing signs of a very early Spring as the grass started growing and the leaves began to swell and burst into view. Continue reading
We have been searching for Mary’s perfect great room furniture ever since we moved into our round house in 2009. Continue reading
I jam at Bradbury Community Center on Tuesdays but one Saturday a month is stage show night. Various bands or loose accumulations of players perform for 1/2 hour each. We get everything from professional sounding groups to folks just having fun and everything in between. Continue reading
OK, Knoxville isn’t exactly a “Big” city but compared to Loudon, it is enormous. The annual Dogwood Festival Home Show took place at the Knoxville Convention Center and provided us with a reasonable excuse to venture into Knoxville for the day.
As usual, the home show was a mix of “Infomercials”, useful information and displays. All of it fun to browse and several that required a more detailed look. We resisted the temptation to purchase the newest kitchen gadgets and to order a $50,000 patio upgrade – maybe next year.
We headed out to the yacht club for a short afternoon sail but found VERY gusty winds 15-25kts. Too high for our small boat and our lack of practice.
We ended up working a bit on the galley cabinet pattern.
