Key West Trip Day-5

Mile 0

Mile 0

April 8, our first full day in Key West found us walking around near the Audubon House where the ladies hoped to take a tour – We were a bit late for them to get it in before our scheduled lunch so they opted to head for a shopping place the woman at Audubon House told them about.

IMG_2608Meanwhile, Jim and I lost track of Andrea and Mary as they blazed away to shop so we hiked all the way to the end of the island and back without seeing them.  We passed the Mile 0 marker for US1 and found an open bar in which to quench our sun-induced thirst.

Heading back to the port area, we catch the private launch to our real destination of the day,  the Latitudes Restaurant on Sunset Key.  Sunset Key is the island in the sunset pictures in yesterday’s post and has a private IMG_2621resort and an exclusive restaurant that spreads onto the beach.   While the food was pretty good, the atmosphere and service were stellar!  We felt like actors in the lifestyles of the rich and famous.  Dessert was to die for!

We again consumed enough calories to equip us for hibernation but were able to rationalize our walks as massive calorie consumers so we were just staying even.
