On the 10th of June ,an otherwise beautiful Sunday morning, Mary decided it was time to take a hike up to the old McGuire cemetery above Rhododendron Drive.
After a brisk climb through the poison ivy, briars and other hazards, we got to the summit and the old cemetery. Last year, Mary and Kas spent some time clearing out hundreds of pine seedlings and re-establishing the boundary.
Most of the area is still clear but Mary did spend some time pulling up new poison ivy plants and the odd tree seedling. Much more needs to be done if we can get some equipment up to the top of the hill and clear away the downed trees. For now, it is in better shape than it was and we’ll be back with the chain saws and roundup.
