Octoberfest in Louisville

Big "T" Smoker

Louisville, Tennessee is a small town of about 2200 situated on the Southern bank of Fort Loudon Lake.  October 22nd was the second annual Oktoberfest and BBQ cookoff.

Folks here take their BBQ and UT football seriously as evidenced by the orange “T” adorning nearly everything in sight including the cookers.

Oktoberfest here is unusual in that it is a party for families, Kids of all ages are welcome and litter is not acceptable so it was good clean fun all around.  All the BBQ competitors were required to sell their products and donate the proceeds to the charity of their choice.

Fun day for the kids.

Everywhere you looked there were kids freely running around and just having fun.  Munching the great food, cracking corn, petting the critters and tossing the bean bags in the cornhole competition.More of the fun
Lots to do on this beautiful Saturday in October.

Next year, we’ll have to try it again – maybe Mary will compete in the Husband Calling contest or sing on the stage.

See you there.
