Me on background guitar

Every first and 3rd Wednesday, a group of us would be bluegrass musicians get together at the Village Recreation center for a little jamming.

This particular night I was playing guitar, usually I’ll plunking away on my banjo.  We have about 6 regulars and a number of others who come and go.

Usually we have a couple of banjos, a guitar or two, an upright bass, harmonicas and a mandolin.  This session was September 7th 2011 and I just re-discovered the pictures. Continue reading

Getting a snack

Tellico Village is pretty heavily wooded and as fall settles in, we are beginning to see more of our local birds around the feeder. Later we’ll see more migrating birds as they head South for the Winter.

This little guy is one of about 5 Hairy  Woodpeckers hanging around for a shot at a midday snack of hot pepper suet. Continue reading

Feast for a king!

For some reason, I’ve started photographing some of the meals we create on the fly.  This “Quickie” was born from the purchase of some fresh Brussels sprouts and a raid on the larder for the rest.

I love fresh Brussels sprouts and have them whenever they are in season.  Adding to the feast are homegrown tomatoes with basil and olive oil.  (We still have some tomatoes picked from our garden before the first frost and ripening on the kitchen window sill.)  A cup of plain rice and a small piece of pork sirloin.
